Description:Please note this is a temporary position. Under the direction of HART’s Staff Attorney, this position assists the attorney with research of facts, legal precedent, investigations, discovery and preparation of legal proceedings, defense or to initiate legal action. This position will also assist the attorney with handling legal issues and legal research of all sources including statutes, judicial decisions, legal articles, treaties, and other sources. This position will prepare legal documents including, but not limited to briefs, pleadings, contracts, etc. and coordinate witnesses, compile and file documents necessary in administrative and court proceedings. The paralegal must be able to work independently and with other legal and administrative staff.
Duties:• Prepare and maintain legal files.
• File cases, pleadings, and other documents in State and Federal courts and in administrative proceedings including electronic filings.
• Prepares documents, evidence, and discovery.
• Compiles documents to comply with various court and administrative orders.
• Summarize legal documents, as needed.
• Conducts research, fact finding, and documentation to assist in case preparation.
• Coordinate meetings and witnesses for administrative, court, and other proceedings.
• Copies files and other documents for production and review.
• Perform legal and record research
• Prepares legal documents, memorandums, complaints, subpoenas, letters, pleadings, etc.
• Maintains case and other administrative files, court calendars, litigation and administrative timetables
• Handle and answers routine phone inquiry and directs to proper party.
• Attend meetings, depositions, hearings, and/or trials to assist lawyer(s)
• Check documents and legal forms for accuracy.
• Preparing reports and spreadsheets.
• Inputs dates in to legal database, as needed.
• Updates and monitors legal volumes and/or software to ensure updated law library.
• Other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience:

Requires an associate's degree or its equivalent and a minimum of 5 years of experience as a paralegal. Must be familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Prefer background and experience in civil litigation, personal injury, and employment and labor law.
Must have experience with Westlaw or Nexis Lexis. Must have experience with Adobe 9 Pro, MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
